@timofeyCamel milk is actually a critical livestock product for food security and livelihoods in arid and semi-arid regions, and the FAO identifies it as a major product for pastoral communities in Africa and Asia. Camels can produce milk under harsh conditions with poor feed resources which makes them uniquely valuable. The top 20 producers globally were calculated from FAOSTAT 2024 data with calculations by Terra Cultiva. Kenya was the top camel-milk producer in 2024 with 1.10 million tonnes while Somalia ranked second in 2024 with 1.00 million tonnes. Pakistan ranked third in 2024 with 968,000 tonnes. Mali produced 299,200 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Ethiopia produced 229,900 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Saudi Arabia produced 136,200 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Niger produced 111,200 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. The United Arab Emirates produced 90,700 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Sudan produced 61,500 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Chad produced 36,600 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Mauritania produced 26,900 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. China produced 22,700 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Qatar produced 17,200 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Kazakhstan produced 16,300 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Algeria produced 15,400 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Eritrea produced 12,500 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Morocco produced 9,700 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. India produced 8,000 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Afghanistan produced 6,800 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Turkmenistan produced 6,200 tonnes of camel milk in 2024. Reported global total is approximately 4.19 million tonnes from 29 countries with available 2024 observations. Kenya alone accounted for about 26.2% of the reported total while Kenya, Somalia and Pakistan together contributed roughly 73.2%. These figures represent raw camel-milk production in tonnes not camel population. The 2024 world total is calculated from available national observations so it should not be interpreted as a complete census of every camel-milk-producing country.
