India sits in second place with 5,320,000 tonnes while Türkiye takes third with 3,430,000 tonnes. Mexico follows right behind at 3,220,000 tonnes and Indonesia comes in fifth with 3,040,000 tonnes. Spain contributed 1,520,000 tonnes to the total and Egypt produced 1,080,000 tonnes that year. Nigeria generated 777,200 tonnes and Algeria added 643,400 tonnes to the worldwide figures. The United States reached 550,400 tonnes while Tunisia hit 484,200 tonnes. Netherlands output was 406,600 tonnes and Ethiopia produced 397,900 tonnes. Guinea brought in 379,900 tonnes and Niger made 304,200 tonnes. Poland recorded 267,400 tonnes and Kazakhstan came in just slightly lower at 267,200 tonnes. Morocco produced 260,000 tonnes and North Macedonia finished with 247,500 tonnes. Italy rounded out this specific list with 234,800 tonnes. These numbers represent the largest producing countries worldwide for 2024 according to FAOSTAT via Terra Cultiva.
