Eternal Sunshine

Ariana Grande released her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, on March 8, 2024, through Republic Records. The project takes its name and thematic foundation from the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which depicts a couple erasing each other from their memories. Grande structured the record as a concept piece that traces the arc of a relationship from infatuation to breakup and eventual healing. Recording sessions occurred between September and December 2023 at five locations: Jungle City in New York, MXM and House Mouse in Stockholm, Studio 112 in Jonstorp, and Decoy in Suffolk.

Musically, the album merges pop and contemporary R&B with dance-pop and house elements. Production features Y2K-inspired textures, soft synth layers, and orchestral disco touches. For this release, Grande adopted a more restrained vocal style, reducing belting and whistle tones to emphasize lyrical content. She received production credits for every track on the album for the first time in her career, collaborating with executive producers Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh. Additional production work came from David Park and Oscar Görres. Longtime collaborators Tayla Parx and Victoria Monét did not contribute writing or production duties to this set.

The record debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, marking Grande's sixth chart-topping album in the country. It recorded the largest sales week for any album in 2024 up to that point. The Recording Industry Association of America certified the album Platinum in September 2024. Two singles emerged from the project: "yes, and?" and "we can't be friends (wait for your love)." Both tracks reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making this the only album of 2024 to generate multiple number-one hits on that chart. Critics responded favorably to the cohesive narrative and mature songwriting, with Rolling Stone awarding it five stars and calling it an "instant classic." [editar]
