Emails I Can't Send

On July 15, 2022, Sabrina Carpenter released her fifth studio album, Emails I Can't Send, through Island Records. The project marked a deliberate shift from her earlier Disney-era sound toward a more mature style blending pop, folk-pop, and electropop. Carpenter described the title as a collection of honest thoughts she could not voice directly to friends or family during real-time conversations.

The album features 13 tracks with no guest appearances, allowing Carpenter to showcase her solo vocal and songwriting abilities. Production duties were shared between Carpenter and collaborators including Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Jamie Cohen, and Steve Mac. Lyrically, the record explores personal trauma, specifically revealing in the title track that Carpenter discovered her father had an affair, alongside themes of heartbreak and young adulthood.

Commercially, the album peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200 and number ten on the UK Official Albums Chart. It achieved Gold certification in the United States for sales and streaming equivalents exceeding 500,000 units. While singles like "Skinny Dipping" and "Fast Times" promoted the initial release, the track "Nonsense" gained massive traction on TikTok and became a defining hit for the artist. [editar]
