Mouseward Zelda meets Soulslikes
por 🔫 Not A Real Sugar: The Legend of Zelda
Mouseward feels like an N64 Zelda game reimagined as a soulslike, and its simple combat and rewarding exploration are already more than enough for me.

This Souls-like feels like a Nintendo game. It's called Mouse Word from Finite Reflection Studios, and it's as if Ocarina of Time was reimagined as a Souls-like. You play a loyal mouse guard who falls in the line of duty, then gets revived by a calamitous starfall that shattered the kingdom. Now you're tasked with protecting that kingdom once again. The combat is simple. Stamina management does mostly heavy lifting alongside attacks, dodges, blocks, and parries using a slew of weapons, including a great hammer that looks comically huge in a tiny mouse's hands. Just look at it. It's so cute. Progression is as you expect a game like this to be, but what really hooked me was the exploration. There are hidden ledges, ladders, ropes you can cut with arrows, and shortcuts that loop back to places you've already been. Being a tiny mouse also makes everything feel enormous, like towering trees and giant enemies. The demo only covers the opening of the game, and there's still no release date, but MouseWord is available to Wishlist on Steam, so check it out today and let us know what you think.
