Kosovo's path toward EU membership got a fresh endorsement from Ursula von der Leyen, who said plainly, "I believe in a European future for Kosovo." The European Commission president paired that belief with a condition: ambition alone won't move things forward, concrete progress is required. The open question now is how fast Brussels can turn its own words into real movement. She said it in the moment, without hedging.

And I'll say it again, I believe in a European future for Kosovo, very clearly. Because I know how deeply European the people of Kosovo feel, and this is a strong foundation on which we must build. And our task is to turn this aspiration into concrete progress towards being a member of the European Union.
