The way antisemitism has rolled out within the movement is a spectacular disaster, and we need to hold elected officials accountable for even passive strays. HasanAbi is pointing out that he views himself as anti-racist rather than racist, yet Zohran Mamdani hasn't stepped up to publicly defend him against claims of being hateful or racist. Nithya simply isn't the right person to address this situation at this specific moment in time. If there is one individual who actually possesses the charisma and social capital required to parse through these ridiculous conversations, it is Zohran Mamdani. However, based on how he has conducted himself regarding this issue so far in NYC, I doubt that clarification will ever occur. It seems clear that even he is not up to the task given his current operating style, though eventually, the movement will move the needle on this problem.
