Martha Raddatz tried to hand Todd Blanche a quote he never said and he refused to take it. She asked if he planned to screen people before they board flights or before they walk into the White House. Blanche fired back that he did not say that and told her she does not get to put words in his mouth. She tried to keep going with a but you said and he cut her off again, saying that is not how it works, she asked are you saying and he did not say that. When she told him fine, you have a right to defend yourself, he corrected her: he was not defending himself, she said he said something he did not say. She said that is fine, we can move on, and he agreed. That whole exchange was a masterclass from Blanche. She backed off the second she realized the claim would not hold up on air, and the reason is obvious enough: ABC did not want its access pulled the way CNN's was. The guy who ran the White House briefing room for a single day is looking like he belongs back at the podium, and Trump might just put him there again.
