Marines buy Anduril Pulsar-L drone jammers

🇺🇸 The Marines are rush-buying $15.7 million in drone jammers to install on their amphibious vehicles The contract went to Anduril without competition for its Pulsar-L system, which detects, tracks and jams small drones while the vehicle is moving, and Special Operations Command already uses it. Marine Corps Systems Command wrote that Marines currently lack any ability to defend themselves against these threats and that failing to fix it risks lives. Right now an amphibious combat vehicle carries one.50 caliber machine gun on top, against drones that cost a few thousand dollars and have pushed Ukraine into parking its Abrams tanks. The urgent requirement was formalized a week after the war with Iran began, though the Corps hasn't tied the two together. Bolting jammers onto vehicles is a patch, and the real question is why a military with a budget bigger than most countries' entire economies is the one playing catch-up.
