Privacy advocate nevscape says the whole crypto sector owes a debt to Ripple that nobody else was willing to pay. When regulators started applying pressure, no other entity stepped up to take the hit for the industry. He treats Ripple as proof of why privacy matters in finance. Institutional adoption never really happened because the necessary privacy features were simply absent from the start.

How do you feel about Ripple and XRP and what they're trying to accomplish? I'm actually not 100% across what they're trying to accomplish right now. So that's, I could say that I have a lot of, without Ripple, there'd be probably a different scenario with the tech where we'd be in a very different place in terms of what happened in like 2017, the origins of 2018, 2019. If they didn't like stand up for like regulation against certain things and saying like this should exist and well yeah most everything would be very different right now because no one else really was willing to fall on their sword I think that Ripple's the perfect example of why privacy matters Ripple has been the institutional business adoption case for a very long time and it didn't work out why hasn't happened could have happened a long time ago they didn't have didn't have privacy. Honestly, if a new app launches and they don't have privacy backed in, I'm like, we'll be wasting your time. Like it's not a functional, it's not a functional financial product, you know, privacy backed in.
