A teacher's worst fear is a child going down in front of them, and in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh that fear reportedly became real when a student fell ill during a Ganesh Visarjan procession and did not survive treatment. What follows that collapse is a countdown, and seconds are what decide it. That is why basic first aid and CPR belong in every teacher's hands, not just in a manual somewhere. What they learn might one day be the thing that gives a child another shot at life.
