Scott Bessent got asked about gas prices and his answer was to ask which time period the question covered. Diesel is at an all time high, so the period doesn't really change anything. The campaign pitch was ending wars, draining the swamp, cheaper fuel. None of it landed, and anyone who backed it should be questioning their own reasoning at this point. I remember thinking Bessent seemed cool when he was first floated for Secretary of Treasury because of the finance background. That read aged poorly. 👇

The complete 180 that you're seeing from Trump is probably, I mean, super tough. Drive safe knocks out. What do you mean by the Trump stuff? Just like no more wars, lower gas prices, drain the swamp, just like none of those things happen. So like anyone who was on their side has to kind of at this point like question themselves if they're thinking at all. I was also watching Scott Besson the other day. I think it was yesterday. He said something that just made me say like, wow. Oh, because he was being asked about higher gas prices. He was like, okay, from what period to what period are you talking about? It's like, brother, diesel is at an all-time high. It doesn't matter what time we're talking about. And so I'm just like, oh my gosh, that sucks. I remember watching him at the very beginning of him saying he was going to be the Secretary of Treasury. And it was cool. I was like, oh, this guy's like, you know, he's cool. He seems cool. Because you knew him from finance a bit, right? Like you knew of him. A little bit. And so, yeah, it was just like, I don't know, man. It's just like, obviously, they didn't completely capture.
