Mecklenburg-Vorpommern just handed the party running Germany's government a historic defeat. It didn't even hit 5% of the vote. That threshold is the whole ballgame: fall short and you're gone from the state parliament entirely, no seat, no representation. A result like this used to be unthinkable. The public's patience ran out.
