Hellforged demo overview
If the idea of Vampire Survivors meets Diablo sounds good but you hate losing progress, Hellforged by Moonpyre on Steam might be it. This extraction bullet-heaven uses meta-progression and crafting alongside real risk-reward loops in the undercrypt where dying wipes your loot. Runs end when you die or extract, letting you equip gear on one of two characters and pick ability upgrades for future attempts. The team already implemented feedback ahead of the Q4 of 2026 PC launch. It is dangerously addictive.

If Vampire Survivors and the Bullet Heaven style of gameplay sounds appealing to you on paper, but you're not really clicking with resetting progress after a failed run, maybe a dash of Diablo will help you here. This is exactly what drew us to the demo of Hellforged by Moonpire over on Steam. Unlike the countless games chasing Ponkle's smash hit Vampire Survivors, Hellforged has meta progression. But in line with expectations of this genre, the game still doesn't demand too much thought moment to moment when it comes to gameplay and combat. But there is more to Hellforged than just the immediate present challenge of surviving. The run in this game also features challenges and objectives to complete. These objectives and challenges will take you along different routes through the undercrypt before you eventually either die or choose to extract. And this is what makes the game so hard to put down. Because if you die on a run, you lose any treasures that you picked up. This creates a risk reward loop that's playing out in our heads as the vampire survivors like gameplay is playing out on screen after a run we're able to equip whatever gear we successfully extracted on one of the two playable characters available in the demo in addition to selecting some ability upgrades in the game's hub area we can also select abilities that may appear in our next run all of these elements come together to give players a feeling of control and influence that is typically absent in this kind of experience even for the demo the team at moon pyre has already implemented player feedback and we are eager to see how this game launches in Q4 of 2026 on PC. But have you checked out the demo for Hellforged? If you did, let us know what you thought.
