After Doom had everything he ever wanted, he lost the one thing he actually cared about, and what he did next shocked the entire world. When Reed Richard invited Dr. Doom to a debate, Doom stood in front of the entire world and promised that if Richards won, he would step down as Emperor. The debate opened and Doom got straight to it. Everything he had accomplished in months was something the Avengers could have done decades ago. Iron Man's arc reactor could have given the planet unlimited clean energy. Ant-Man could have ended world hunger in weeks. Storm could have reversed climate change on her own. But Doom saved his sharpest point for last. Reed Richards could build life-changing inventions in minutes, yet only ever used that ability when it served his own family. Reed stood there with nothing to say. Meanwhile, the Avengers broke into Doom's castle in Latveria, and what they found stopped them cold. Black Widow got word to Reed, and he cut into the debate with a live broadcast showing millions of Latverian citizens being drained of their life forces. Reed accused Victor of torturing his own people to fuel his magic. Doom didn't deny a word of it. He said he would sacrifice a million more if that's what it took. Finished Reed off in front of the whole world and cut the signal, leaving everyone in shock. After that, the military, the Avengers, and every superhero on Earth stood against him. Doom had seen enough. He stripped the X of their powers with a single spell then told them their abilities would return the moment they left the battlefield When Squirrel Girl stepped forward and ordered him to stop Doom grabbed her by the hair and asked what she was planning to do about it That was all the distraction the thing needed He picked up Stormbreaker and hit Doom as hard as he could Doom took the hit and decided he was done holding back. He shattered his armor into a million pieces and drove every shard into his enemies until they were all down. Standing over them, he told the world he had turned this moment into a fixed point in time, so his victory could never be undone. Then, a familiar voice cut through his speech. Doom looked over and saw Valyria, pierced by shards of his own armor. and before he could reach her, she collapsed. Valeria was the one person Doom truly loved, and losing her broke him like nothing else ever had. He went to the Vishanti and stood before the living tribunal itself, the cosmic embodiment of multiversal law, and laid everything bare. His ambition, his guilt, his rage, all of it. Beneath all of that, the tribunal found something real. A love for Valeria genuine enough that Doom was willing to place her life above his own. The tribunal agreed to bring her back, but the price would cost him far more than his title as Sorcerer Supreme. Doom said yes without hesitation. He gave up his powers, his kingdom, and his own life. When Valeria woke up and learned what he had done, she demanded to know what it had cost him. Doom refused to answer, told her it was irrelevant, and that he alone would deal with the consequences. Then, he sent her home. Valeria returned to her family alive and safe, and Doom quietly vanished from the earth.
