Simu Liu on Channing Tatum Fight Scenes
Simu Liu revealed that he and Channing Tatum did not rely on stunt doubles for their fight scenes in Avengers: Doomsday. Liu noted that Tatum moves exceptionally well, which pushed him to perform at his best. He mentioned that Tatum's commitment to physicality, alongside his own, bodes well for the action sequences. Liu also shared that Tatum's Cajun accent in Avengers: Doomsday will be significantly toned down compared to his comedic portrayal in Deadpool & Wolverine, fitting the serious tone of the new film. The fight scene between Shang Chi and Gambit is something Liu is glad audiences reacted positively to in the trailer.

We had a lot of days, a lot of days, fight choreography, fight rehearsal. He's just down. I knew he moved well, but then I saw him on the first day of our fight rehearsal and I was like, oh, he really moves well. Forced me to bring my A-game. And also, you know, I think we're two people who, like, don't like to let the stunt doubles do it. Not every actor is like that, but when you have two actors that are, I think, as deeply committed to being in and kind of owning that physicality, that bodes well for the fight scenes. I'm so glad to see people react the way that they did when the trailer came out and showed us fighting.
