Now, FIFA is seeking to raise around £3 billion from private investment in its competitions, which of course includes the World Cup. and they want to do this via a minority stake in a new entity called the FIFA Forward Enterprise. UEFA claims FIFA has crossed a line and European nation members are expected to hold an emergency meeting this week. We understand there's a willingness to use the ultimate threat of boycotting the World Cup if Infantino doesn't back down. But the UEFA president, Alexander Seferin, chose not to attend the World Cup final following a series of disagreements between the two governing bodies. It's understood the Football Association was completely unaware of FIFA's plans before today's announcement. We at Sky Sports News understand the Welsh FA are in contact with both UEFA and FIFA.
