Resident Evil passes Pokemon in video game movie grosses

SUPER MARIO sits at the top of the video-game movie list with $2.4bn for Universal, but the shakeup underneath is the story: Zach Cregger's RESIDENT EVIL slides past POKÉMON into second at $1.66bn for Sony, leaving POKÉMON third at $1.5bn across several studios. SONIC rounds out fourth at $1.2bn for Skydance. Four franchises, one board, and the middle just moved.
