Apartment rent increase comedy sketch

Grieving an apartment you can't afford is a real thing, and one of these two wants two full days to do it before the laptop comes out. The renewal notice just landed, the new number is due in three weeks, and the math is grim: one of them says her balance is basically weeping at her, the other figures that once the rent clears, bread is the entire food plan. So the mourning window makes sense. A year earlier it was a completely different movie. Living room, kitchen, balcony, two bedrooms, and these two are reacting like a jackpot just hit. A photo gets demanded for the feed, captioned New beginnings, new blessings! There's hugging and screaming and running room to room, plus a whole imagined future: dinner parties they'd throw, Christmas decorations going up, movie nights, somebody slipping into the kitchen at midnight for noodles, and rent paid with no stress attached. Independent women now, one of them announces. Then the landlord's notice shows up and almost doubles the number. Three weeks to find it. Which is when the earlier bragging comes back to haunt them: rich women, they'd called themselves. Rich in happiness, they decide, while the bank accounts were strictly supporting actors. Leaving isn't what either of them wants. The apartment is loved. The issue, as one puts it, is that affording it works emotionally and collapses financially. So the options get tossed around: find something cheaper, or bring in a roommate for bedroom number two. The bar for that roommate starts at pays on time and leaves her chicken alone, then jumps to covering her share of the rent, her share of the bills, and her share of the emotional support subscription too. They end up on the sofa cracking up over it. Renew or move, one asks. Two days to grieve, the other answers. Two days, with three weeks ticking. Bring the laptop. The listings are where it gets unforgiving. A cheaper one-bedroom appears. Shared bathroom. And a kitchen the listing calls a Compact cooking area, which one of them instantly renames a hot plate beside a window. They look at each other, lose it laughing, and admit the old place is already missed. But missing the apartment beats missing meals because rent ate the grocery money. That's the trade on the table, and fr, it's the only one. #MovieClips
