Ariela emotional over Serginho on A Fazenda

The part that stuck with me is Ariela saying she cried just from hearing him. That came up while she was talking with Lucas and Maíra about Serginho's history with chemical dependency. Her point was that he's still living twenty years in the past, and that he felt bad and went to Mayk over having said 'faggot.' Her framing: back then the word was normal, using it as an insult in a fight isn't really an insult, and he didn't see it that way because of how things were twenty or thirty years ago. What he went through may have messed with his head, she said, and she didn't want to keep talking about it. Maíra's read is that it's chemical and medication balances it. Ariela floated that it could be something chronic rather than an illness, and then admitted hearing him was enough to make her cry. Lucas laid out that depression can't be cured and stays with a person, and that chemical dependency is treated rather than cured and can return. Ariela also opened up about being very alone and feeling like leaving, seeking help, knowing what's right or wrong. Which is why she sometimes can't tell whether Serginho acts on purpose or knows what he's doing. She brought up that situation he mentioned, like maybe he said something about needing to pee without consciously thinking someone would feel it.
