Ajax Calandlyceum school at De Toekomst

The fix Ajax landed on was simple enough: stop shuttling kids between school and the training ground, and put the school at the training ground instead. That's how Calandlyceum came to be, opened officially at the facilities in 2021. Before it, players aged 8 to 16 in the club's infrastructure categories still had to keep up with their education, and shuttle services would collect the ones attending school at set times and bring them to De Toekomst, Ajax's infrastructure facilities. Once there, eating together came first, homework assigned at school got done next, and lessons in things like grammar followed. Training only started after all of that, and when the session ended the same shuttles took each player home one by one. Ajax looked at that routine and figured it was wearing the players down and eating their time, hence the school inside the facilities. What Calandlyceum adds beyond the compulsory curriculum is attention to how players carry themselves, their psychology, and their mental growth. So the goal isn't just turning out footballers, it's backing them as individuals, and there's even consultancy support offered before a player spends the first money he earns. Honestly, most clubs talk about the person behind the player, ama Ajax went and built the building for it.
