Lionel Messi Princess of Asturias Award Oviedo

The Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2026 is the reason Lionel Messi is in Oviedo, and the greeting he got on arrival was a full-on scene. Fans packed in to welcome him, and the reception had that manic energy you only see for a handful of people. The ceremony itself goes down tomorrow. Antonela Roccuzzo made the trip with him. As for the résumé, there's not a box left unchecked on the pitch, so this honor lands more on what he means on and off it. Hard to argue a career like his repeats itself, and honestly the game has already handed over everything it had to him.
