Diego Maradona Jr reunites with father

DIEGO MARADONA JR says the truth about his father was hidden from him while he was growing up. He remembers being 17 years old in Naples when a TV report mentioned Maradona was in Fushi, so he called his mom and uncle Fabio to drive there immediately. When they arrived, DIEGO MARADONA JR jumped over a fence to get close despite a guard trying to stop him. Uncle Fabio stepped in and told the guard it was the last chance to see the son before letting them through. They ended up talking for 45 minutes where DIEGO MARADONA JR asked if he really was his son. The answer came back that yes, he is his son, but Maradona could not make it public at that time. They did not meet again until 2015 when Rocío, the partner of Diego Maradona, called him while he was rehearsing for Bailando. She said his dad wanted to speak with him right away. When he heard the voice, the question was why he called him dad on TV but not in person privately. That moment made it clear his father just didn't want conflict happening between them. An invitation to dinner followed and they agreed to stop discussing the past entirely. Their relationship improved significantly from that point forward as they focused on enjoying the present and dreaming about the future rather than dwelling on what happened before.
