    EV adoption by country 2025

Norway leads the pack by a mile, with 97% of new cars sold there in 2025 being electric. That is not a typo. Nepal follows at 73%, then Denmark at 69%, Sweden at 61%, and Iceland at 57%. Finland and the Netherlands are locked at 56% each, and China lands at 53%. Belgium comes in at 43%, Portugal at 37%, while Ireland and Luxembourg both sit at 34%. Switzerland and the United Kingdom tie at 33%, with Austria and Israel right behind at 31%. Germany records 29%, France 25%, and Thailand 21%. Spain and Latvia share 19%, Estonia is at 18%, and Lithuania, Türkiye, and Costa Rica each hit 17%. Cyprus and Indonesia are at 15%, and Slovenia and South Korea close it out at 14%. The whole ranking, which covers 40 countries, is credited to IEA and Ember.
