Huangling shaiqiu in autumn

The shaiqiu custom is what gives Huangling its autumn character. In this cliffside village in Jiangxi Culture, bamboo trays are set out loaded with chilies, corn and chrysanthemums, and the colors pop where dark rooftops meet white walls. Season by season the practice keeps the setting vivid, and it opens a way for visitors to meet rural life and its heritage firsthand.
