Trump tariffs vs Canada under Mark Carney

Faced with successive tariffs imposed by Donald Trump and his new commercial threats, Canada is taking retaliatory measures to protect its economic interests. Under the direction of Prime Minister Mark Carney, the country is attempting to cope with American pressure and strengthen its position in trade negotiations. Recently, following the entry into force of 50% US tariffs on Canadian products worth approximately $20 billion, Carney committed to imposing retaliatory tariffs of an equivalent amount. Previously, the two countries had experienced several episodes of tension regarding various products, including automobiles, steel, and aluminum. Trump's tariff policy increases uncertainty not only in trade but also in relations between these two long-standing allied countries. In the end, which of the two countries will be in a position of strength in this trade war? 💬
