So the show never really planned to follow the books in order, and Antonio Cipriano says the cast knew that going in. The audition itself gave it away, he tells Elite Daily, because of what happens between Dean and Allie in episode 6 of season 1. That was the format, right there. His reasoning for why it works is pretty solid too. Allie is one of Hannah's best friends, so the audience is already invested in her from the jump. He doesn't think the same approach would have landed with Grace and Logan, since that pairing just has a different feel to it. As for season 2 shifting the spotlight, Cipriano is all for it. Belmont and Ella were the ones who got everything rolling, and then Stephen and Mika came in to carry the lead. He calls them brilliant, and says watching them do their thing inspired him a lot. After two seasons of putting in the work, he feels officially ready to step into a lead role himself and go all in. That kind of patience paying off hits different...
