Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka 12th anniversary

April 1, 2004 is the date two Broadway actors bumped into each other on a New York City street, and somehow that random crossing turned into 22 years together for Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. Back then Harris was starring in Cabaret and Burtka was in Gypsy, so neither of them was looking for anything beyond getting through their shows. Harris came out publicly as gay in 2006, and by 2010 he and Burtka had welcomed twins Harper and Gideon via surrogate. Four years after the twins arrived, the two of them got married in Italy, and Elton John performed at the reception, which is genuinely wild when you sit with it. On September 6, 2026 they hit 12 years of marriage, and both marked it publicly. Harris posted a wedding photo with a message to Burtka: "David, thanks for saying 'I do.' I'm forever grateful that you did." Burtka put up his own tribute for the 12 years, saying how happy he is to have Harris beside him. 22 years in, these two are still one of Hollywood's most enduring couples, and the whole thing started with a chance meeting between two people who were both working on Broadway at the time #NeilPatrickHarris
