Liga MX expansion LEONES NEGROS DE LA UDG

The mechanics behind a potential Liga MX expansion to 20 teams hinge entirely on purchasing new franchises rather than promotion. That 19th slot is being eyed by LEONES NEGROS DE LA UDG, sparking the question of whether their return to the first division is finally imminent. Meanwhile, the bid for the 20th position appears locked to a specific project centered around constructing a brand-new stadium. The timeline for this rollout is set by FEMEXFUT, who intend to issue the official call for applications with all necessary requirements in early 2027.
