Infirmary (2026) 3.5/5. The thing haunting this movie is not the hospital. It is a man who would rather walk a dead psych ward at night than sit alone with his own head. Edward signs up for the night shift at a facility where human experiments took place. The ghost, when it shows up, is in better shape than the building around it. That tells you everything about what this movie thinks is scary. Recovered bodycam footage from a rookie guard's first night at an abandoned psychiatric hospital. A sinister intruder appears. Investigators cannot make sense of what they find. 85 minutes on Shudder. The Grave Encounters comparison is fair, except this one trades the camcorder for bodycams and security feeds across 280,000 square feet. A rookie Marine who can't sleep. A veteran guard who clocks out and walks into nothing. Shudder basically asked: what if security footage, but make it the whole movie. Nothing here was staged on a set. It was shot entirely on body and security cameras inside a real abandoned hospital. No musical score tells you when to be afraid. Pineda is making a feature debut, and the found-footage instincts are sharper than filmmakers with a decade of experience. What makes it work is what it refuses to say. The experiments in Wing C are never explained. That is deliberate. The moment you reveal what happened in there, it becomes a Wikipedia page. Leave it ugly and unfinished. Baffled investigators are not a flaw, they are the point.
