Steve Maclin opened up about leaving TNA, describing the whole run as a constant uphill battle that only got worse toward the end of his fifth year. He said he felt like he was just spinning his wheels, throwing ideas at creative and watching them get accepted before nothing ever came of it. Even after becoming International Champion in April 2025, the confusion set in immediately because there was no clear path to make the title mean anything. He wondered if they were sending him to Mexico or Japan, but every single pitch he made failed to materialize into what he had envisioned. Eventually, he stopped resisting and just folded, accepting whatever direction management chose without a fight. For someone who tries to put every bit of themselves into a story to better the product, the company, and the opponent in the ring, complying without effort is something he genuinely dislikes doing.
