EU officials optimistic on US diesel export ban

EU officials are reading the signals out of Washington as more encouraging than they were a few days back, and the reason is Energy Sec. Wright coming out against a proposed U.S. diesel export ban. That matters because roughly half of Europe's diesel comes from the States, and global supply is already stretched thin by disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said Sunday he's weighing a ban "very seriously" to bring down fuel prices domestically, so the threat hasn't been taken off the table.
