Fair Play Chloe Domont three years

FAIR PLAY (2023) was released 3 years ago today, and Chloe Domont’s debut still feels like one of Netflix’s most vicious relationship thrillers. What makes it work is how the filmmaking slowly turns Emily and Luke’s apartment into a pressure cooker. Domont literally moved the walls inward by 10% throughout the film as their relationship deteriorates, while the camera gradually makes them feel smaller and more trapped. She even approached the sound design like a horror movie. Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich completely commit to watching a relationship implode in real time. It starts as a story about a promotion and somehow becomes one of the most uncomfortable movies about ambition, insecurity and power.
