Futurama 2027 specials announcement

The latest chapter for Futurama has wrapped up its current run, though this feels less like a permanent goodbye and more like another temporary stop on the Planet Express route. The franchise has cycled through Fox, Comedy Central, and Hulu platforms multiple times, starting with the original series ending in 2003 before Adult Swim reruns sparked renewed interest. Those reruns helped drive revival efforts that included direct-to-video movies, a Comedy Central revival, and finally a return on Hulu in 2023 after a long break. Even with this conclusion, the story isn't fully done because Hulu has approved three hour-long specials for the series. The first of these new specials is scheduled for release in 2027. It is worth noting the most recent season finale was written with the possibility of being the final episode, which fits the established pattern perfectly. Repeated cancellations and resurrections have become an integral part of the show's history where death itself has basically become part of the show's lore.
