Focus Entertainment secured the rights to OBSESSION after winning a bidding war against Netflix. Curry Barker reported that streamers wanted to skip theaters entirely, noting, "They put in an offer to just put it straight on Netflix." The studio ultimately beat out the streaming giant for the film.
