Millet production by country 2024

India actually topped the global millet charts in 2024 with a staggering 12,620,813 tonnes according to FAOSTAT data. China came in second with 2,783,739 tonnes while Nigeria secured third place at 1,550,000 tonnes. Ethiopia followed up with 1,125,000 tonnes and The United States produced 318,900 tonnes that year. Pakistan contributed 251,882 tonnes followed by Ukraine's 156,870 tonnes. Kenya hit 65,763 tonnes and Australia added 36,833 tonnes to the mix. Saudi Arabia brought in 13,268 tonnes with Argentina contributing 6,630 tonnes. South Africa rounded out the list with 6,331 tonnes and Morocco added 5,181 tonnes. Türkiye produced 3,774 tonnes while South Korea managed 1,000 tonnes. Vietnam finished strong with 856 tonnes and Japan ended the rankings at 251 tonnes. Small Grain, Big Impact!
