Houthis seize Mocha port

Iran-backed Houthi forces have seized the Yemeni port of Mocha and are advancing toward positions overlooking the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. With the Strait of Hormuz already experiencing significant disruption, Saudi Arabia has redirected oil shipments to the Red Sea to bypass that bottleneck. This shift makes the Bab el-Mandeb Strait a critical chokepoint for the Kingdom. The waterway is only approximately 18 miles wide at its narrowest point yet carries a large volume of oil and trade between Asia and Europe.
