Trump 2030 census proposal

So the 14th Amendment says each state's count has to include the “whole number of persons,” which is exactly why this new census proposal is heading for a legal mess. The idea is to only count citizens and permanent residents in the 2030 census, leaving out undocumented immigrants and temporary legal residents. Census numbers decide House seats and how federal dollars get split, so states with big immigrant populations could see their official counts drop a lot if this passes. The plan also wants to remove race and ethnicity questions from the form. Trump already had a citizenship question blocked by the Supreme Court in 2019, so challenges are pretty much expected.
