Mariano Díaz Alavés resurrection

Whoever is writing Mariano Díaz's life story must be laughing at us, because no fiction writer would dare this plot. He was handed Real Madrid's iconic number 7 right after Cristiano Ronaldo left, and then it all went sideways. A spell in France, a return to Spain with Madrid, a stop at Sevilla, and the whole thing looked finished. He lands at Alavés and can't buy a goal all last season. Fast forward, and he's got three goals and three assists, pushing Deportivo Alavés to second in the Spanish League, above Real Madrid. That's not a comeback, that's a full resurrection.
