DOJ sends 1,000 monitors to 2026 midterms
DOJ Assistant AG Harmeet Dhillon confirmed the Justice Department is deploying 1,000 election monitors for the 2026 midterms to watch polling places and guard against fraud. The Civil Rights Division has long sent out monitors to polling places throughout the country to ensure compliance with the federal Voting Rights Act. Approximately 700 people were deployed during the 2024 presidential election.
