Alexis Sanchez on football, his mother, and growing up

Alexis Sanchez doesn't think he can be truly happy without a ball at his feet. He calls football his salvation and says complete happiness only comes when he's playing. Growing up in a South American country with very little money, his family couldn't afford excesses and he had to work hard just to get what they needed. He'd go out into the neighborhood with friends and do somersaults in the air for 50 or 100 pesos, and he washed cars too. Through all of it his mother was the one who always supported him. She took him to training, went to watch him, and the only thing she wanted was for him to be happy. She never pushed him to play football, and to this day she still gives him advice, telling him how to play and how to strike the ball. He says he's nobody to give advice but he'd tell every parent to let their children be happy in whatever they do and to support them.
