Mexico hosts most FIFA World Cups

A new graphic shows which countries have hosted the most FIFA World Cups. Mexico leads the pack with three tournaments (1970, 1986, and 2026), making it the only nation to host the event three times. The United States, Germany, Italy, Brazil, and France each have hosted twice. The U.S. will co-host in 2026 alongside Mexico and Canada, which will host for the first time. In total, 19 countries have hosted the World Cup since its inception in 1930.
