Rico Recalls Vince McMahon Raise Request

Rico remembers requesting a pay increase from Vince McMahon during his time in WWE. He explained that his original three year rookie agreement had already run its course without proper compensation. By then he had won the Tag Titles on two occasions, first alongside Rikishi and later with Charlie Haas. Rico attended nearly every event and appeared regularly on television. He specifically asked for one thousand dollars per week. His existing minimum salary stood at roughly seventy five thousand dollars each year, separate from royalties, pay per views, video games and merchandise. The proposed adjustment would have added fifty two thousand dollars beyond that base amount. Rico felt the change was justified, particularly since he and Charlie together with Jackie Gayda were preparing to appear on the upcoming SmackDown magazine cover. Vince replied that Rico did not have enough popularity, a comment that eventually resulted in his release from the promotion.
