@professional_portalSylvester Stallone kept moving the goalposts, and Arnold Schwarzenegger kept chasing them. On CONAN 2 the payday was a million. Then came the news that Sly had locked in $5 million for a movie, and Arnold's reaction was basically, what the hell. TOTAL RECALL pushed him to $10 million, and Stallone answered with $15 million. "Jesus Christ, I can't catch up," is how he put it. The two of them eventually settled on $20 million as the going rate. So when Batman & Robin came knocking, the role of Mr. Freeze was not something Arnold was itching to take on. What changed his mind was the number: $30 million, plus points and a slice of the back end. "They call me back… and they say we give you $30 million plus we give you points and back end… and I said, okay." Part of the motivation, by his own account, was paying Stallone back after all those years of trailing him. The 1997 movie went on to be remembered for going broad and for the frozen puns, which is a strange legacy for a paycheck that size. Math is math.
