@FootynewsEdgar Davids called out Zinedine Zidane for losing touch with his roots while they were both at Juventus. When Edgar suggested they hit the neighborhoods to play, Zinedine shut it down immediately citing daily training and the fear that club executives would kill them if they found out. The reaction was sharp: Edgar told him he had changed and forgotten playing in his own neighborhood with childhood friends. Eventually, though, Edgar convinced him to occasionally join him on the streets where Edgar frequently played with local youth. It was a wild mix of fun and risk to go play after training sessions, but the local children were genuinely happy seeing them there. Zinedine still looks back on Edgar as a great guy despite the initial resistance.
