@FootynewsBrazilian clubs are already moving to cut the number of foreigners allowed on the pitch per match, from 9 down to 5, with the change set for 2030. The motivation is straightforward: keep Brazilian talent in the spotlight and make sure local prospects don't lose their place in the league. That push comes as the Brasileirão counts 168 foreign footballers spread across its 20 teams, up from the 157 registered in 2025. Argentina supplies the largest share with 48, then Uruguay with 31 and Colombia with 27. For context, foreigners make up 25% of players in the Brasileirão. In the Premier League, that number sits at 72%. So the plan isn't to shut the door on international recruitment. It's about keeping that door open without sacrificing the next generation of Brazilian stars. Where do you land on it?
