Matt Bracken on Iran strikes and Yemen bombing

@not_a_charmWashington is reportedly weighing fresh strike options against Iran while Tehran's army declares readiness to launch preemptive strikes first. Meanwhile a Qatari tanker was reportedly attacked near the Strait of Hormuz. Matt Bracken breaks down why bombing campaigns in Yemen keep failing. Saudi jets get spotted immediately upon takeoff forcing Houthis forces to scatter and pilots end up targeting the largest available buildings instead of specific sites. He describes the operation as trying to kill ants at a picnic with an ice pick on the end of a pole. A US landing operation would be strategically disadvantageous with a best-case scenario involving holding a port near Pakistan briefly just for symbolic value. Bombing has never defeated defenders protecting their own land so Saudi Arabia should pursue a political settlement.

This is a split-screen interview with two men. The man on the left wears a red shirt and headphones, with his eyes closed. The man on the right wears a black shirt and is adjusting his earpiece. The background on the left appears to be a map, while the right is a plain wall. The overall mood is professional and conversational. ON-SCREEN TEXT: MARIO NAWFAL, Matt Bracken, Mario Nawfal
