@FootynewsTwenty years after he said it out loud, the promise actually landed. Back in 2004, Cristiano Ronaldo told an interviewer his dream was to give Portugal its first international trophy. That dream came true, and it did more than arrive. It rewrote Portuguese football history. The numbers behind it are ridiculous. 234 matches for Portugal. 146 goals. 45 assists. One European Championship. Two Nations Leagues. All-time top scorer for the national team. And a reference figure for everyone who pulls on that shirt. Whatever the final chapter of his career looks like, he gave everything to Portugal. From a kid saying it into a microphone to a legacy nobody can argue with.
