@AmazingthingsA father and son from Wake County, Larry Pickett Sr. and Larry Pickett Jr., found themselves facing something most people never will: a wrecked car in Fort Montgomery, N.Y., with live power lines overhead, sparks flying, and tires popping. Larry Jr., an Enloe High graduate who plays Army football at West Point, pulled a man from that car. Seconds later it caught fire. The City of Raleigh named Dec. 10 Larry Pickett Day in their honor. Larry Sr. said they were in the right place at the right time, God put them there, and the real daily heroes are the first responders we call when something like this happens in our own city. That's courage living in Wake County
