    Largest Cobalt-Producing Countries 2023

@timofeyLargest Cobalt-Producing Countries in the World — 2023 Cobalt is a strategically important mineral used in rechargeable batteries, superalloys, electronics and other advanced technologies. Its mine production is highly concentrated: the Democratic Republic of the Congo alone accounted for 70.81% of the cobalt production recorded by World Mining Data in 2023. According to World Mining Data 2025, the 2023 ranking is: 🇨🇩 Democratic Republic of the Congo — 139,840 tonnes 🇮🇩 Indonesia — 18,200 tonnes 🇷🇺 Russia — 8,800 tonnes 🇦🇺 Australia — 5,217 tonnes 🇲🇬 Madagascar — 3,387 tonnes 🇵🇭 Philippines — 3,300 tonnes 🇨🇦 Canada — 3,260 tonnes 🇨🇺 Cuba — 3,200 tonnes 🇵🇬 Papua New Guinea — 3,072 tonnes 🇨🇳 China — 2,300 tonnes 🇳🇨 New Caledonia — 2,300 tonnes 🇲🇦 Morocco — 1,506 tonnes 🇫🇮 Finland — 1,057 tonnes 🇺🇸 United States — 500 tonnes 🇹🇷 Türkiye — 400 tonnes 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe — 386 tonnes 🇿🇦 South Africa — 378 tonnes 🇿🇲 Zambia — 207 tonnes 🇧🇷 Brazil — 165 tonnes Important: World Mining Data 2025 records 19 producing countries/jurisdictions for cobalt in 2023—not 20. I’m keeping it at 19 rather than inventing a 20th country. The dataset reports a global total of 291,683 tonnes. The figures represent cobalt content in mine production, not the total weight of cobalt-bearing ore. World Mining Data explains that its production figures generally represent the recoverable valuable element or compound. Source: World Mining Data 2025 — mineral production data for 2023. The image focuses on a man in a hard hat and safety vest holding a piece of raw cobalt. The background shows a mining operation with a large dump truck and an excavator. The mood is informative and industrial, presenting data on the largest cobalt-producing countries in the world for 2023. Visually notable is the contrast between the raw mineral and the heavy machinery, as well as the man's direct gaze.
